JOB DESCRIPTION: Assists District Fisheries Biologist conduct fisheries sampling, management, and research activities on numerous impoundments and streams in a six county-wide area in South Central Arkansas. Routine fisheries sampling methods include shoreline seining, electrofishing, cove rotenone, trap netting, and gill netting. As a team, we collect and analyze survey and sampling data and write and submit administrative, technical, and other reports and recommendations based on results of our management and sampling activities. We plan and conduct fish population manipulation programs such as drawdowns, stockings, fertilizations, vegetation control, and habitat placement or modification. We conduct extension work on private ponds and lakes including sampling, management recommendations, and fish kill investigations. Proposals are prepared with design and cost estimates for the construction, renovation, and or maintenance of lakes, access areas, and fishing piers. I present audio/visual programs at public engagements, and write and present management papers at scientific meetings. I also assist with the development of the district budget, process and ledger bills, and maintain files, records, and data bases on all district activities and billing.
