StockingPond A1On 23 April 2004, a fingerling pond was seined, fingerlings were graded with the UAPB-in-pond floating grader to keep fingerlings larger than five inches, and fingerlings were transferred to a live-car. A random sample of 157 fingerlings was pulled out of the sock with a dip net and fingerlings were individually measured to the nearest half-inch to assess the size distribution of the fingerling population to be stocked (Table 2 and Figure 6). Fingerlings ranged from 3.5 to 8.0 inches and averaged (± SD) 5.7 ± 0.1 inches (Table 3). Even after grading, there was still 7% of the fingerling population smaller than five inches. Four additional random fish samples of approximately 6 lb were pulled out of the sock with a dip net and were group-weighed and counted to estimate the average fingerling weight and determine the number of pounds to be loaded onto the hauling tanks to achieve our target stocking density. The average (±SD) fingerling weight was 43 ± 3 lb/1,000 fish (Table 3). A total of 2,341 lb of fingerling were stocked, which represent a total of 53,872 heads or 5,986 head/acre (Table 3). Pond A2
Five additional random fish samples of approximately 7 lb were pulled out of the sock with a dip net and were group-weighed and counted to estimate the average fingerling weight and determine the number of pounds to be loaded onto the hauling tanks to achieve our target stocking density. The average (±SD) fingerling weight was 88 ± 9 lb/1,000 fish (Table 3). A total of 4,122 lb of fingerling were stocked, which represent a total of 46,732 heads or 5,192 head/acre (Table 3). Pond B1On 14 April 2004, a fingerling pond was seined, fingerlings were graded with the UAPB-in-pond floating grader to keep fingerlings larger than five inches, and fingerlings were transferred to a live-car. A random sample of 160 fingerlings was pulled out of the sock with a dip net and fingerlings were individually measured to the nearest half-inch to assess the size distribution of the fingerling population to be stocked (Table 2 and Figure 6). Fingerlings ranged from 5.0 to 9.0 inches and averaged (± SD) 7.0 ± 0.1 inches. Four additional random fish samples of approximately 10 lb were pulled out of the sock with a dip net and were group-weighed and counted to estimate the average fingerling weight and determine the number of pounds to be loaded onto the hauling tanks to achieve our target stocking density. The average (±SD) fingerling weight was 79 ± 7 lb/1,000 fish. A total of 5,705 lb of fingerling were stocked, which represent a total of 71,672 heads or 6,516 head/acre. Pond C1
Three additional random fish samples of approximately 7 lb were pulled out of the sock with a dip net and were group-weighed and counted to estimate the average fingerling weight and determine the number of pounds to be loaded onto the hauling tanks to achieve our target stocking density. The average (±SD) fingerling weight was 66.2 ± 0.5 lb/1,000 fish. A total of 3,305 lb of fingerling were stocked, which represent a total of 49,935 heads or 4,994 head/acre. Pond C2On 5 May 2004, a fingerling pond was seined, fingerlings were graded with the UAPB-in-pond floating grader to keep fingerlings larger than five inches, and fingerlings were transferred to a sock. A random sample of 113 fingerlings was pulled out of the sock with a dip net and fingerlings were individually measured to the nearest half-inch to assess the size distribution of the fingerling population to be stocked (Table 2 and Figure 6). Fingerlings ranged from 5.0 to 8.5 inches and averaged (± SD) 6.2 ± 0.1 inches. A total of 3,625 lb of fingerling were stocked, which represent a total of 54,770 heads or 5,477 head/acre.
