HarvestsPond A1
Pond A2On 21 October 2004, the pond was seined and fish were graded with the UAPB-floating-bar-grader. The UAPB-grader was set to its largest bar-size which retain catfish larger than 1.25 lb. Graded fish were left over-night in a 1 ¾ inch mesh sock. The following morning, just before fish were loaded into a hauling truck, a random sample of 622 fish (1243 lb) were individually weighed to assess the size distribution of the fish population harvested (Figure 11). Sampled fish ranged in size from 0.6 to 6.3 lb and averaged (±SD) 2.0 ± 0.9 lb. A total of 42,520 lb of catfish were harvested which correspond to approximately 21,277 fish. The fraction of the population smaller than 1.25 lb was 23% by heads and 12% by weight (Table 12). The fraction of the population larger than the docking size of 4.0 lb was 4% by heads and 9% by weight (Table 12). Other Verification PondsConsidering that different feeding and aeration strategies were adopted in the other verification ponds for particular reasons, only the results from pond A1 and A2 are presented here. |
