As you browse through the scholarships
listed below, please remember that these are not the only source
of scholarships. Be sure to check throughout your community
for assistance as well. In fact, there are many
organizations that give financial aid to students in need.
A few of these would be places such as local banks, local
charities, etc. One invaluable tool over the internet is FastWeb.com.
This is a free, easy to use scholarship search engine. It
is highly recommended among schools around the U.S. Also,
please be aware that there are always people attempting to scam
prospective students and their families. Stay away from any
scholarship program which requests payment for application,
etc. These "programs" almost never produce any
real results. |

Federal Pell Grant
(aka Application for Federal Student Aid or the FAFSA) The Federal Pell Grant is funded by the federal government and administered by the U.S. Department of Education. Students who demonstrate significant financial need according to the federal formulas can qualify for yearly Pell Grant awards of over $4,000. To apply for the Pell Grant, students must fill out the Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). By filling out the FAFSA, you are also applying for the Pell Grant as well as any other federal financial aids available. All students who complete the FAFSA will receive a Student Aid Report (“SAR”) that will note their eligibility for Pell Grant funds as well as any documents they must submit to the Financial Aid Office to confirm their eligibility for federal funds. The FAFSA website has complete instructions on completing the multi-page FAFSA form, printable worksheets and lists of the information required, as well as the online FAFSA form itself.
