Aquatic plants are plentiful in Arkansas and are important components of most aquatic eco-systems. The primary difference between aquatic plants and aquatic weeds is where they occur and their abundance. In aquaculture facilities and recreational ponds, aquatic vegetation must be controlled. In ornamental ponds, bog gardens, and water features, aquatic plants are often propagated and encouraged. A basic understanding of aquatic plants, control methods and aquatic herbicides can help keep aquatic plants from turning into aquatic weeds.
