Handling live aquaculture products is a major challenge for all fish producers and processors. The cost of improper sizing of
aquacultured products has been estimated at $100 million annually. The Aquaculture/Fisheries Center is committed to advancing the science of harvesting and grading fish produced in commercial earthen pond systems.
The “In-Pond Fish Grader” design developed at the center is currently in use on fingerling production facilities in Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama. Current research and development efforts are focused on improving this concept for use in commercial food-fish catfish ponds. More information on this program
