Rick Cartwright, Ph.D.
Rick Cartwright currently serves as Associate Director - Agriculture and Natural Resources where he coordinates statewide extension programs with Unit Heads and District Directors.
He grew up in North Central Arkansas on a diversified farm, later earning the B.Sc. in Agriculture from the University of Arkansas. After working in industry a few years, he returned to graduate school completing the M.Sc. in Plant Pathology at UA Fayetteville, then the Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Cartwright has worked in research, teaching and extension for the UA System Division of Agriculture since 1992, and is best known for his work in rice diseases, recognized with the the John White Outstanding Extension State Faculty Award from the Division; the Distinguished Rice Research and Education Award from the Rice Technical Working Group; the Extension Excellence Team Award; the Outstanding Plant Pathologist Award from the Southern Division of the American Phytopathological Society; and the 2011 National Rice Industry Award.
He is married to Lynette Warren, and they have 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
