4-H on the Move

In FY 2001, both 4-H clubs in Augusta and Cotton Plant were continued. Fifty two students signed up for the program in Augusta, and 24 students signed up for the program in Cotton Plant. Each club conducted a meeting once a month after school. Nikki Schaefer Family & Consumer Sciences Agent conducted these meetings. The program that they focused on was Talking with TJ the "Teamwork Series".

Two 4-H Fun Days were conducted in the county they were: Mosquito Fest Fun Day and the Three County Fair Fun Day. Some of the activities that the youth participated in were BB Gun Shot, Seed ID, Bicycle Safety, Chicken Bar B-Q, Bait Casting and etc. A total of sixty four 4-Hers participated in these activities.

Three 4-H Fun Days were conducted outside of the county. Forty-five 4-Hers attended the Northeast District Fun Day. Fifty-one 4-Hers attended Wild River Country 4-H Fun Day. Woodruff County won first place at this event for having the largest group present. Fifty-two 4-Hers attended the Magic Springs 4-H Fun Day. Woodruff County also won first place at this event for having the largest group present. Woodruff County won a total of $750.00 for having the largest groups present at both activities.

Woodruff County 4-H has grown the past couple of years and plans on growing even more in the future.

Impacts

  • FY 2001, 76 youth participated in the 4-H program.
     
  • FY 2001, 11 4-Hers participated in the 4-H District O-Rama held in Jonesboro.
     
  • FY 2001, 148 4-Hers and other youth participated in 3 4-H Fun Days outside of the county.
     
  • FY 2001, 64 4-Hers and other youth participated in 2 4-H Fun Days in the county.
     
  • FY 2001, an average of 25 4-Hers participated in the Augusta 4-H meetings each month.
     
  • FY 2001, an average of 15 4-Hers participated in the Cotton Plant 4-H meetings each month.
