Healthy Weight for Arkansans

Over half of adult Arkansans are overweight or obese.  Nearly one in ten children 0-5 years is obese and 15% of teens are overweight.  In 1999, hospital charges for obesity-related conditions were in excess of $125 million.

Healthy Weighs for Arkansans will:

  • Motivate youth and adults to eat more fruits and vegetables and less fat.
  • Teach Arkansans to eat sensible portions.
  • Help Arkansans understand the health benefits of physical activity.
  • Encourage youth and adults to increase time spent on physical activity
  • Help Arkansans achieve and maintain a healthier weight
