Tell a Friend...Save A Life! Issues Addressed in Sharp County
"The programs we’ve had on the importance of getting mammograms saved my
life. I hadn’t had one - ever - and I’m 56 years old. After the meeting I knew I
had to get one. Sure enough, I had a tumor the size of a walnut. It was benign,
but I think about what could have been!" A. W., Extension Homemaker in Sharp
County.
"The national average for women who develop breast cancer is one in nine.
Unfortunately, the average in Sharp County is higher than that!" Beth McEntire,
Regional Spokesperson, Arkansas Breast Care, breast cancer survivor.
Each year, nearly 2,000 new breast cancer cases are diagnosed in Arkansas.
Twenty-three Extension volunteers in Sharp County reached over 250 people with
information on screening, self-exams, and resources for uninsured and
limited-income adults.
