Agriculture Programs Improve Efficiency and Profitability

"Extension has been very helpful to me in providing information on weed control, fertilizer recommendations for my pasture and hay ground, and hay testing which enables me to provide proper nutrient requirements for my beef cattle." - Bill Dorough, Pulaski County Livestock Producer

The emphasis of the agriculture program in Pulaski County is to provide information, consultation, and demonstrations to improve the producer's efficiency and profitability in livestock and crop production. The Extension agent's role is to stay updated on current and emerging agricultural technologies and getting this information to the producer in an objective and useful format.

Program areas which county producers have listed as being important to them include field demonstrations of new crop varieties and production methods, field days, production meetings, periodical newsletters, farm financial management, farm safety seminar, bull evaluation clinic, farm visits to diagnose production problems, and one-on-one consultation. Though the Extension agent cannot have an answer for every problem, producers understand that the agent can call upon Extension specialists for assistance when necessary.
