Pulaski County

According to the 2000 Census, Pulaski County ranked as the 163rd largest county in the United States. The 2000 population census showed 361,474. The population increased 3.4 percent since the last census-the only city not showing a population growth was North Little Rock, which showed a 2.1 percent drop. Black population went from 26.4 percent to 31.9 percent. Little Rock grew by 7,338 persons, an increase of 4.2 percent - Asians and Latin Americans accounted for most of the growth.

Population growth north of the Arkansas River was 4 percent while the south side grew only 2.9 percent. The largest growth was Maumelle, with 57 percent and Sherwood with 13.9 percent.

Pulaski County residents call for the latest research based information in nutrition and food safety, financial information, agriculture-horticulture, and youth programs. This keeps the staff busy averaging 100 calls a day.
