Pulaski County
4-H Excels in Community Service
Youth Learn Life Skills While Having FUN

4-H has focused on Community Service projects and life skills in 2003. Pulaski County 4-Hers have completed many community service projects, focusing on Grandparent’s Day and 4-H Can Make A Difference Food Drive. Pulaski County 4-Hers learn many life skills through hands-on activities.

4-H celebrates Grandparents’ Day in a very special way. Wal-Mart works in collaboration with 4-H on this project by granting five hundred dollars. In 2003, Pulaski County 4-Hers created 384 clay pots with silk flower arrangements and delivered them to six different nursing homes.

Pulaski County 4-Hers collected 4,469 pounds of food for the 4-H Can Make A Difference Food Drive. Each club collected food in various ways. Some collected at their church and had donation sites at local stores. Live and Learn 4-H Club collected 2,110 pounds alone!

Life skills are taught in every 4-H activity. Pulaski County Teen Leaders focus on teamwork and leadership training through hands-on activities. Teen Leaders planned activities for Cloverbuds. They also designed a mural to be painted on the flood wall of North Little Rock. The design was developed by 4-H with the help of a local artist. It has been approved by the mayor and underway in 2004.

Pulaski County 4-Hers know that character really counts! Character Counts teaches the six pillars of character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. 4-Hers have undergone lessons in character and understand that who you are makes a difference in today’s world.
