for Applying for Scholarship
Each year the Arkansas 4-H Foundation awards several thousand dollars in
scholarships to deserving 4-H'ers across the state. The scholarship program
is divided into three sections. The three sections are:
Category A-General Scholarships
Category B-Record Book
Category C-Governor's Award
Each category has specific requirements that must be met for an application to
be considered. The 4-H college scholarships are in addition to the scholarships
awarded to advanced record book winners to attend National 4-H Congress.
Arkansas 4-H members are eligible to receive only one 4-H college scholarship
from each category of state 4-H scholarships:
Category A-General Scholarships
Category B-Scholarships available to current or former state advanced record
book winners only
Category C-Governor's Award
All attachments must be included with the scholarship applications and received
in the state 4-H office by February 1 for the application to be considered. All
applications must be signed by a member of the county Extension faculty in the
member's home county to be considered.
A state scholarship must be used within one year of the date of the award (with
the exception of the Arkansas Livestock Show/Oaklawn Jockey Club
Scholarships, in which case the scholarship must be used within 18 months).
In the event the scholarship is not used within the year of limitation, the
winner must submit a request for a time extension through the county
Extension office where they resided at the time they became eligible for the
award to the state 4-H office. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of
the scholarship.
Applications for each of these scholarships should be made on the Arkansas 4-H
Scholarship Application Form, CES-635, and are due in the state 4-H office
by February 1. Due dates will be observed. Applications received past this
date will not be considered.
Separate applications must be submitted for each scholarship, including
transcripts and letters of recommendation, for which a member wishes to
apply, due to the specialized information required in Sections III and IV.
Repeat - A complete application and all attachments must be submitted
for
each scholarship for which a member wishes to apply. Incomplete
applications
WILL NOT be considered!

How to Apply For Scholarship Payment
Scholarships are payable one-half of the total amount for the first semester of
college or approved post-secondary educational institution and the second
one-half at the beginning of the second semester provided the member
maintains a 2.5 grade average out of a possible 4.0. Upon entering college
for the first semester, the 4-H'er should obtain a statement from the
college registrar stating he/she is currently enrolled. This statement
should be taken to his/her local county Extension office along with a
request for scholarship payment and the college address to which the check
should be mailed. They will then submit it to the state 4-H office. This
procedure would be repeated at the beginning of the second semester, with
the addition of a copy of the member's grades from the first semester in the
information submitted to the county Extension office.
Scholarship checks are made payable to the institution and to the 4-H member
and will be mailed directly to the school, college, or university.
The scholarship must be used within one year or be forfeited unless special
circumstances are documented to the state leader - 4-H and an extension is
granted.
A few of the scholarships have stipulations as to school attended, major field
of study, etc., that must be met.
