County Impact Statements - Lafayette County
Youth..."To Make the Best Better"
4-H Celebrating its 100 years in existence, reaches youth through hands-on,
learning by doing activities. This year, Personal Development & Leadership,
Healthy Lifestyles Education, and Plants/Animals were the top project chosen by
Lafayette County Youth.
School enrichment programs have been conducted in Stamps, Bradley and
Lewisville Head-Start, Elementary and High School classes. Subjects taught
included character education, food safety, nutrition, financial resource
management, the value of agriculture to our food supply, conflict resolution and
teamwork.
County-wide activities that provide 4-H’ers to learn skills include the
Annual Achievement Banquet, recordbook training, talks and demonstrations at
County O’Rama, Shooting Sports activities and county horse shows. 4-H’ers from
Lafayette County also participated in state camps, District and State O’Rama
activities, state fairs, state horse shows and shooting sports activities.

4-H’ers learn skills in Parliamentary Procedure. 4-H Clover Club
led by volunteer leader Loretta Hall conducts their business
meeting.

Impacts
- The Lafayette County 4-H Program enrolled 62 youth in 8 clubs. Three new
clubs/project groups were established.
- There were 333 youth who were reached in school enrichment programs in
local Pre-schools, Kindergartens, Elementary and High Schools in Lafayette
County.
- Of the 392 youth in Lafayette County, 4-H programs in FY01, 192 were
white, 199 were black and 1 was Hispanic.
- In FY 2001 Lafayette County had a total of 41 adults volunteering with
local and in-school 4-H youth.
