Small Hands, Small Seed Oh, How They Grow!

Seeds require good soil, moisture, sunlight and cultivation to grow into healthy plants. Our youth require the guidance and nurturing of parents, guardians and other concerned adults and volunteers to grow up and become productive citizens.

The Jefferson County Master Gardeners utilized their youth demonstration garden to teach youth responsibility through the nurturing of plants. This has brought about a change in attitudes and an increase in their knowledge in plant science management. According to their science teachers, the students who were involved in this project have shown improvement in plant science.

We are excited about the partnership that the Master Gardeners have developed with county, city, school, church and club leaders, as well as other youth organizations. "To empower students to succeed in a changing world" will be realized with partnerships such as these.
