Extension Homemakers Council (EHC) Mission: Education, Leadership
and Community Service
Community Service:
- Donated pillows, pillowcases, hairbrushes, underwear and
deodorant for Women’s Shelter (Casa).
- Made and donated over 300 preemie caps and afghans to
Children’s Hospital.
- Provided snacks, caps, turbans and mastectomy pillows –AR
Cancer Institute.
- Donated board games to Pine Bluff Adult Day Care.
- Made ornaments and decorated county tree for Capitol Trees
Across Arkansas Project.
- Planned and implemented 2nd Annual Pow Wow.
- Assembled and donated Survival Kits to American soldiers in
Iraq.
- Served as superintendents, hostesses and judges for
District and County Fairs.
- Created and presented Annual 4-H Award for
Citizenship.
- Collected and donated food to White Hall Food Pantry and
Jefferson County Neighbor to Neighbor.
- Gifts and Food Baskets given to needy families at holidays.
- Nursing Home Birthday Parties and Easter and Halloween
Parties for Youth.
- Made 123 teaching dolls and twelve quilts for Children’s
Hospital.

- Educational Exhibit at Southeast District Fair ‘03.
- Taught 6 Workshops and 48 Character Lessons.

Impacts
- 70 Senior Citizens adopted new practices in food safety as a result of
programs at Bradshaw and Pine Bluff Senior Citizens Centers.
- Thirty-five pre-school children improved hand washing techniques as a result
of programs at Mrs. Teri’s Day Care.
- 525 adults gained knowledge in the safe preservation of food.
- Six youth gained knowledge in making healthy food choices as a result of a
program at Indiana Street Baptist Church.
- Twelve participants at AHEC learned to prepare heart-healthy meals.
- 100 individuals gained knowledge in preventing skin cancer.
