Combine 435 students, law enforcement officers from local agencies, and 6 hours to learn as much as you can about safety, and you have a fun-filled day away from school. The Garland County 4-H Office, along with the Progressive Farmer Farm Safety Day Camp Program and the local Farm Bureau Women's Committee, hosted the 4th Annual Garland County Farm Safety Day Camp.
Area schools sent 4th graders, dressed in t-shirts provided by PROGRESSIVE FARMER, to the fair grounds to participate in the Farm Safety Day. This year they had up close and personal safety demonstrations for bikes, lawnmowers, ATVs, drug prevention, how alcohol effects you, first aid, fire safety, sun safety, snakes, and water safety. Students even had a chance to see what it was like to be confined to a wheel chair.
On the way home, they received a goody bag with handouts from the local agencies and companies.
