County Impact Statements - Faulkner County
4-H Preparing for the Future Today

Faulkner County has been doing 4-H work through base 4-H clubs as well as 4-H school enrichment programs, workshops and clinics. Youth in Faulkner County have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational workshops and clinics ranging from public speaking to nutrition education to livestock management to horticulture.

Youth living at the Conway Housing Authority have been taking part in an ongoing 4-H project group. This program has provided youth with hands on enrichment activities in nutrition, gardening, conflict management, team work, money management and agriculture. The Faulkner County Extension Staff has utilized 4-H volunteers and Master Gardeners to help conduct a variety of these programs. Youth at the Conway Housing Authority took part in a city farm tour this summer. They visited a farm and learned how the food we eat comes from the farm to the store to the table.

" Because of 4-H I have made a lot of new friends. I have done this through camps, workshops, and showing animals. I have learned a lot of new things. I have been introduced to public speaking. I have learned to care for raise, and show animals. I have learned to interact with people. I have held several offices in my club. I have learned several leadership skills. 4-H allows me to pursue my interests and do things that I enjoy." -Morgan Poole, Guy Small Town 4-H
