Desha County Youth Working To Make A Difference
4-H has helped my child to overcome much of her fear to speak in public. In
the past, she could not even do a simple speech during Easter or Christmas at
church like the other kids. Kate placed 4th in her first 4-H talk on "healthy
snacks" at District O-Rama. – Mrs. Odem, 4-H Parent
County-wide activities providing 4-H’ers with opportunities to learn a
variety of skills include County 4-H Fun Day, mobile dairy, embryology,
bread-making, speech writing, county and state fair projects, and many other
life enhancement programs.

Impacts
- Ten 4-H clubs consisting of 223 youth
- Eight "school enrichment" clubs participated in 39 enrichment programs
including food and nutrition, conflict management, leadership, Ag awareness,
and environmental science.
- Fifty-three youth participated in County O-Rama, 17 in District O-Rama,
and five in State O-Rama.
- Fifty youth attended county achievement banquet.
