From 4-H School Short Courses to decision making to how to give a presentation were just a few of the many learning opportunities made available to Crittenden County 4-H Youth. 4-H project material in the form of school short courses are offered to all schools in Crittenden County according to age and grade appropriateness. 4-H programs emphasized this year were: Ag in the Classroom, Arkansas Aquatics, Arkansas Wildlife ID, Character Education, Entomology, Food and Nutrition, Money Management, Pursuing a Career, and Seed Identification. These educational opportunities reached a total of 1,037 youth.
4-H Mini Society is an entrepreneurial program for boys and girls ages 9-12. Participants in Mini Society learned the steps of setting up a business by planning, marketing and operating their own business. Mini Society also incorporated math, language art and creative arts. Mini Society reached 25 youth.
Other 4-H educational opportunities offered were: 4-H Mini-Society, speech workshops, judging events and county, district, state and regional activities.
As a result of these educational opportunities:
Twenty-five youth participated in 4-H competitive activities at both the county, district and regional level. Two hundred-seven youth participated in educational programs designed to teach basic life skills. One hundred fifty-two youth improved their decision making skills. One hundred seventy-two youth participated in leadership/volunteer development programs.
