Best Care Training Helping to Develop Quality Child Care

Craighead County children are the greatest treasure. These children will need quality child care in order to reach their physical, social, emotional and intellectual potential. Helping to make quality child care available to Craighead County families is a current goal of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service.

Quality child care gives single parents a chance to find and keep a job, allows both mothers and fathers to contribute to family income and prepares children for school. Quality child care is a critical resource that we must work together to provide for the children and communities who depend on us. In response to this growing need, Extension developed and delivers "The Best Care."

The Best Care is a training program for child care providers that is delivered in Craighead County. The Best Care classes fulfill the state requirement that licensed child care providers must receive 10 hours of instruction each year. The Best Care provides formal training on topics such as: child safety, nutrition, infant and toddler neglect, effective discipline, working with parents, record keeping and business management.

Quality child care is a critical resource for Craighead County children, their parents and our economy. Extension's Best Care program is one of the necessary building blocks for our children's future.

Extension's is working to make training easily and affordable to obtain by also offering train via the internet and videos.
