EFNEP Garden
There are 19,671 residents in Conway County; 16 percent are at or below the
poverty level. There are 2,240 eligible food stamp recipients in the county
which has a current case load of 987. Free and reduced cost lunch programs by
school are 39 percent Wonderview; 52.6 percent Nemo Vista; and 50.3 percent
South Conway County Schools.
A garden was planted at a local day treatment to teach clients how to raise
and use their own food in preparing meals. The same group wanted to continue
with a weight loss class.

The After School and Summer programs were taught to give children a better
understanding of good nutrition. One parent called the office looking for
recipes her child had received. She had lost them in moving.

Exhibits on money management, lowering sodium, paying for juice and sources
of calcium were displayed at DHS, Morrilton and Menifee Senior Adult Centers,
Conway County Library and the Courthouse.

Impacts
- 25 clients participated in garden project.
- 8 clients participated in weight loss program. 75 pounds lost total.
- 164 participants in After School program.
- 295 participants in summer program at C-4.
- 49 participants in summer park program.
- 10 participants in Baptist Church program.
