Kids In The Kitchen
Today’s school curriculum does not have Home Economics or basic life skills
built into it at the junior high level. Most parents are employed outside the
home making it necessary for youth to learn food preparation skills on their
own. Youth learning to manage in the kitchen can provide assistance to the
family with working parents.
Kid’s in the kitchen is an educational experience in basic life skills that
is offered to as many youth in Columbia county that will participate. These
youth learn planning, buying, storage, preparation skills, sanitation and
kitchen safety with equipment and ranges.
