County Impact Statements - Clark County
Leading the Way in Agriculture Economics
Agriculture is an important part of the economy of Clark County, with over
96,000 acres in some form of agriculture production. Some of the main production
areas are Beef/Forage, Forestry, and Row Crops.
As times are getting harder for producers to make a living in agriculture,
the Clark County Extension Service provides the latest research-based
information to help producers. There are a number of different ways to provide
this information, whether it is through Production Meetings, Field Days,
Demonstrations, Newsletters or one on one contact.
Production Meetings in Beef Cattle are conducted locally with the Clark
County Cattlemen’s Association, while some meetings are conducted as District
meetings with other agents.
This is the third year for two different demonstration plots. One in soybean
production, has had over 250 different soybean varieties planted in Clark
County. This enabled our soybean producers to look at the different varieties
available for them to grow. The other demonstration plot is our Bermudagrass
Test Plot. We cut and keep data for the Bermudagrass. Then we use this data at
production meetings.
