Youth "To Make the Best Better"
"4-H has been a big part of my life. It has helped me become a better person
for myself, my family and my community. Through 4-H I have learned a lot about
responsibility and fulfilling commitments. Thank you, 4-H, for this opportunity
to learn and grow." Justin Land, Clark County 4-H member
Research shows that we can help youth become capable, responsible, caring
adults, if we provide them with a healthy start, caring adults, safe places,
structured activities, marketable skills, the opportunity to serve, have
positive experiences, experiential learning, and the opportunity to develop life
skills.
County-wide activities help provide many opportunities for 4-H’ers to learn
skills. Some of Clark County’s activities include but are not limited to the
annual 4-H Banquet, Record Book Workshops, Big B Day County O’Rama, along with
the many state and national activities. This year we had two 4-H’ers attend the
Citizenship - Washington Focus trip. Many 4-H’ers attend county, district and
state fairs, along with County, District and State O’Ramas.
Volunteer opportunities are also provided for our 4-H’ers. Whether it’s
providing one of their show animals for the petting zoo, or assisting a 3 year
old in showing a lamb at the county fair, or even helping elementary aged
children learn to cook through the Sunsational Summer program, our 4-H’ers know
the meaning of the 4-H emblem and put their hearts in all they do.
