Chicot County
Expanded Food and Nutrition Program (EFNEP)

EFNEP is the Expanded Food and Nutrition Program that is offered by the Chicot County Extension Office. It is designed for families with young children with limited incomes. It helps families gain the knowledge and skills to improve their diets.

Families learn to stretch their food dollars by learning to grow a vegetable garden, store foods safely, shop wisely, preserve foods and plan nutritious meals.

Program assistants are trained to teach nutrition to homemakers and youth. Homemakers are taught in their homes while the children are taught in small groups at home, in local churches or community centers.

There is no cost for the program. The only cost is the time you spend learning about good nutrition and how to feed your family for less money
