County Impact Statements - Calhoun County
Calhoun County 4-H’ers "Learn by Doing"

"4-H has helped me learn many new things. I did a PowerPoint presentation for State O’Rama and won second place," said Dorcee Lewis, Calhoun County 4-H member.

The Youth participating in Calhoun County learn through many hands-on activities planned at the county level. These activities are implemented under the guidance of volunteer leaders and the County Extension Faculty.

The activities for each year are planned by the 4-H Advisory Adult and Youth Committee. These activities include: County O’Rama, District O'Rama, State O’Rama, Conservation Day, club recreation workshops, community service projects, and life skills workshops.

The youth participated in showing educational exhibits during our county fair, and won many blue ribbons. The youth also exhibited livestock at the county, district, and state fairs.

Youth are given an opportunity to participate in various workshops. Workshops include: bread making, jelly making, and holiday crafts. Youth involvement also included fund-raising for the 4-H Foundation.
