County Impact Statements - Bradley County
Extension Agriculture Programming Helps Area Producers Sustainable Agriculture

The key of Sustainable Agriculture is increasing production efficiency. The major agricultural commodities produced in Bradley County are beef-forage production and fresh market tomato production.

The Bradley County Extension Service addresses the needs of beef and tomato producers utilizing a broad range of educational methods, including classroom type educational programs, on-farm demonstrations, county-wide clinics, newsletters, field days, and market reports. While these types of educational opportunities are important, the most valuable educational teaching method is one-on-one farm visits. Each year, the Extension Service makes hundreds of individual farm and home visits to assist Bradley County producers to evaluate their situation and work together to develop a plan to address specific needs.

It is through a combination of these teaching methods that the Bradley County Extension Service provides non-bias research based information that assists the individual to make an informed decision.
