County Impact Statements - Boone County
Boone County 4-H
4-H is the youth development program of the University of Arkansas
Cooperative Extension Service. The goal of 4-H is to help youth acquire
essential life skills through planned "learn by doing" experiences. Adults who
serve as volunteer leaders are a very important part of the 4-H program.
The Boone County 4-H program has seen tremendous growth over the last few
years. Currently, there are 16 clubs in the county with 302 members. Over 740
Boone County youth participated in the 4-H program through community clubs,
school enrichment programs, special interest programs, camps and workshops.
4-H members in Boone County are active in many different project areas. 4-H
projects include beef, horse and pony, dairy cattle, poultry, swine, gardening,
personal development, leadership skills development, foods and nutrition, soil
conservation, wildlife and fisheries, entomology, veterinary science, bicycle,
computer technology, wood science and many more.
Participation in 4-H gives youth an opportunity to learn about different
project areas, strengthen leadership skills, improve communication skills,
develop record keeping skills, explore career options, and learn about the world
in which they live. 4-H members have opportunities to participate in judging
activities, attend various camps and workshops on the county, state, regional,
and national level.4-H members work hard at "making the best better!"

Impacts
- Over 300 Boone County youth participated in 16 community clubs.
- Over 740 youth participated in community clubs, special interest
programs, camping programs, and school enrichment programs.
- 64 volunteer leaders help to conduct the 4-H program in Boone County.
